About College : The college, established on 28thursday June 1985, is first institution for women's teaching in N Maharashtra. The mission of the college is "Empowerment of women through quality education." The college is permanently affiliated to SNDT Women's academy, Mumbai and is ISO 9001: 2015 certified Higher.
The college is the outgrowth of the external guidance heart for women under the name "Jidnyasa Mahila Mahavidyalaya" started by Late Prin. B.50. Patankar, ex-Principal of H.P.T. College of Arts and R.Y.K. Science College in 1955. It was converted into a full- fledged higher in 1985 with the inspiring guidance of Prof. Thousand.B. Sardar, Prin. D.V. Inamdar (Pune), Dr. Mrs. Jyotsnaben Trivedi, the then Vice Chancellor of SNDT Women's University, Mumbai and Prof. Mrs. Kamalinben Bhansali, under the able leadership of Sir. Dr. 1000.S. Gosavi, Secretary Yard.E. Club. The potent foundation of college has been laid down by founder Principal Dr. Sunandatai Gosavi. The constructive and glorious path of women'south education also witnessed the substantial administration of sometime Principal Dr. D. K. Gosavi who fabricated value improver by his meticulous planning and execution.
With the well wishes at every betoken of growth, the college has received munificent donations and is thus named Shrimati Manjulaben Raojisa Kshatriya (SMRK) Arts, Babubhai Kapadia (BK) Commerce, and Athawale- Kulkarni (AK) Mahila Mahavidyalaya.
The success story of the higher reached the newer heights under the proactive leadership of Prin. Dr. Mrs. Deepti Deshpande from 2004. She has been shouldering the responsibilities of the college with her innovative means. She introduced various courses like document and diploma courses in fashion designing and interior designing and then every bit to cater to the needs of modern womanhood. The charismatic presence and administration of Prin. Dr. Mrs. D. P. Deshpande has redefined the concept of women'south teaching.
The college has risen from the enrolment of 87 students to the present strength of about 2000 plus students benefitting from 33 courses offered under Arts, Fine Arts, Commerce, Dwelling Science and Management Faculty. These skill based courses equip students to face the challenges of the competitive world. The college provides easily-on experience to the students to gear up them for the outer world through various innovative programmes and courses; to name few- activities of department of Music (resulting in appearance at the merit listing for consecutive 17 years), SRUJAN exhibition organized every year for the unabridged city and Miss SMRK Best Personality Competition.
The prime focus of the higher is imbibing behavioural traits and attitudes to enable students to exist successful in every walk of life. The college has achieved great heights and excellence in scholastic as well as non- scholastic domain. The teachers besides have made outstanding achievements in their respective careers by involving themselves in inquiry activities and contributing at national and international forums. The strong bond betwixt the students, teachers and the management is i of the unique features of the college which is maintained through proper guidance, good for you atmosphere and active 'Students Counseling Cell'. The college, thus, works on the basis of learner-oriented educational activity-learning process. Facilitating the girl students to create their meaningful and cocky-reliant social status is our aim and we strive for the same.
